What is Cellulite?
Cellulite describes a condition where lumps and dimples appear on the surface of the skin, commonly referred to as “orange-peel” and “cottage-cheese”. Cellulite is not a medical condition that must be treated, but it is a condition that affects the aesthetics of an individual. It affects both men and women, although it is more common in females because the fat distribution and connective tissue are different than in males. In cellulite, weak connective tissue fibers cause bulging of the septa of the subcutaneous adipose tissue – primarily in the thighs, upper arms, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. This causes dimpling of the skin surface.
THE SOLUTION TO CELLULITE
Acoustic Wave Therapy
Acoustic waves (also called sound, pressure, or shock waves) have been shown to stimulate metabolic processes and improve connective tissue elasticity for cosmetic use in the treatment of cellulite, fat reduction, and body contouring. Acoustic energy is delivered to the targeted area, which then creates heat and stimulates the breakdown of fat (which is metabolized by the body), lymphatic drainage, and the formation of new collagen for improved skin tone and firmness. There is no real downtime associated with this treatment. Radiofrequency (RF) energy treatment is a new and promising technology for non-surgical body contouring, fat, and cellulite reduction. RF in combination with other modalities device which combines RF, infrared, tissue mobilization, and suction, can be used in treatments to effectively contour the body and reduce the appearance of cellulite and fat.
With deep, controlled heating of the fatty layers under the skin, the effects of tissue tightening and increased blood circulation mean that fatty deposits are drained through the lymphatic system, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Based on current RF technologies, most people should see at least a mild improvement in their skin tone, with a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite and possible inch loss, with minimal risks and downtime. Prices for radiofrequency depend on the area(s) treated and the device used.
Microneedling
When combined with Radiofrequency/ Acoustic Wave can reduce the appearance of cellulite on the body. Many patients are surprised to learn that the treatment they use to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring on the face can also be used on the body to smooth the appearance and feel of cellulite present on the bottom half of the body. If your goal is to reduce, blur, or smooth the appearance of cellulite without surgery, then this is the non-surgical non-invasive treatment you’ve been looking for.
